Contrace is a digital platform for grain sorters, automating the process and making it much faster and more effective. Through intelligent reading or manual classification, the collected sample is analyzed and measured. Its values are automatically transferred to the system, generating the report and other quality verifications.
Abstract
The Contrace platform was conceptualized and designed in collaboration with UEX, going through stages of contextualization, research, wireframing, componentization, prototyping, styling, and presentation.
The idea for creating Contrace originated from investors who partnered with the venture builder UEX to make its production possible. While still awaiting implementation, the platform’s screens and workflows have already been designed, facilitating implementation and testing during development.
The creation process had some deviations from the standard procedure, as the entire visual identity was developed after the mockup phase due to a project name change. This was anticipated from the beginning, so the mockup was designed to utilize smart components, a flexible color scheme and fonts, and elements associated with the overall structure. As a result, the layout change took a short amount of time and will allow for easy addition of new components and pages.
Process
Understanding the proposal
This stage was highly immersive, as it involved a very specific field within an industry that, although growing, I hadn’t had previous exposure to. I was immersed in the subject through meetings, handbooks, videos, and various educational materials until I grasped the product flow.
Research
I conducted extensive research to not only understand the product but also the profile of the users and the main beneficiaries of the conveniences offered by the tool.
Defining the audience
The audience was divided into groups to make the flow clearer and to understand the specific needs of each group at each stage. The primary user is the operator, who will have constant interaction with the platform. There is also the occasional user who needs to check their processes, the laboratory user who will verify the report, and other users with more limited permissions.
Defining the opportunities
Being a growing market that sees technology as an important ally, the automation of this type of process makes Contrace a suitable tool for the market and ahead of other similar systems. Its proposal is to simplify and integrate the entire process.
Action plan
With all the relevant client, market, and product information at hand, I moved on to the planning stage. I organized the deliverables into smaller parts for review and partial approval, thereby avoiding significant scope deviations and reducing rework time in case of disapproval.
Prototyping
From wireframes to Figma, it took only a few days since the flow presentation was a preview of the final presentation. This allowed us to validate and approve the entire process of input and output for classifications, as well as understand the new opportunities identified by the client.
Style Definitions
In parallel with the prototyping phase, the visual identity and main elements of the brand were being developed. With that ready, it was possible to adapt and redesign the entire platform, forming the Contrace design system and arranging the components in a simple and cohesive manner.
Validation
With the updated project, a new presentation and validation are conducted before moving forward to the execution planning phase. In this stage, pages, flows, and other information will be reviewed once again to ensure accuracy.
Solution
As a result of all the research and solution development, over thirty screens were presented in a manner that closely resembled the final product.
